FanShot Quotes
Neil has been my coach for just over two years now and is a huge part of the success I've had with my ground game. His teaching style is not a good fit for everyone. He's very particular and methodical and, at times, long-winded. Additionally, a big part of his process is to break a fighter down and show him firsthand where his weak points are. It's a painful, frustrating lesson but, once learned, really opens the door for drastic improvement. What I like about his style is that it's very systematic with everything geared toward finishing fights and inflicting damage. It is also constantly evolving. If someone can show him a better way to execute a technique or to approach a position, he is very open minded and will take the time to perfect it and integrate it into his system. People get too caught up on the labels and the politics that go along with them. Regardless of what you call it, what he's been teaching me has earned me a lot of submissions both in the gym and in the ring. To me, that's what matters.
