Strikeforce Heavyweight Shawn Jordan to the UFC
MMAJunkie.com has reported that Shawn Jordan will make his Octagon debut March 3 as part of "UFC on FX 2." He'll be facing off against Oli Thompson.
Fighting out of the Jackson-Winkeljohn camp, Jordan began his professional career with a victory in Bellator in the spring of 2009. He's since put together a record of 12-3-0, with eleven of his twelve wins coming by way of (T)KO or submission. Jordan split a pair of bouts during his time with Strikeforce, faltering in his promotional with a decision loss to Devin Cole before rebounding with an upset submission win over Lavar Johnson last September.
Jordan will be tasked with Oli Thompson, whose UFC debut was delayed after injury forced him to pull out of a fight with Phil de Fries. Thompson has a career record of 9-2-0, with losses to UFC veterans Joe Vedepo and Rob Broughton. Like Jordan, Thompson has a penchant for the finish, with eight of his victories ending by tapout or TKO.
"UFC on FX 2" will take place in Sydney, Australia and feature a headline bout between welterweights Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann. It will be the UFC's third over-seas card of the year in as many months, with the organization heading to Brazil for UFC 142, and Japan for UFC 144.
