Give and Take (slug fests)

Thought I'd give making a FanPost a try. I've noticed (I'm sure everyone else has too) across the sbnation blogs that there isn't one dedicated to kickboxing or muay thai. Though the sports are touched on and the techniques are broken down by various writers, I still feel like there are many MMA fans that haven't warmed up to them quite like they have with the various grappling aspects. I've been wrong before probably as many time as I've been right (maybe more) so please be forgiving. My only goals are to help raise awareness of both muay thai and kickboxing and promote some of the same great discussions MMA receives. To start with I feel like introducing to some readers five incredibly entertaining bouts. For some of you these will be fights you've seen before, so I hope you don't mind re-watching them.

Star-divide

I've got no real commentary about these five bouts. Some of them end, some of them go to decision. All five are fairly recent bouts. There were so many to choose from, but I wanted to keep it to fights having still active athletes.

Number 5:

Mike Zambidis vs Chahid Oulad El Hadj (K-1 World 70MAX 2010 Final 16)
October 3, 2010 - Seoul, South Korea

Number 4:

Mohamed Khamal vs Mosab Amrani (It's Showtime 2010: Amsterdam)
May 29, 2010 - Amsterdam, Netherlands

Number 3:

Takaaki Umeno vs Bovy Sor Udomson (Shootboxing 25th Anniversary: Ishin 2)
November 4, 2010 - Tokyo, Japan

Part 1:

Part 2:

Number 2:

Daniel Ghita vs Hesdy Gerges (It's Showtime Sporthallen Zuid)
March 6, 2011 - Amsterdam, Netherlands

Number 1:

Yuta Kubo vs Tetsuya Yamato (K-1 World 63MAX 2010 Final)
July 5, 2010 - Tokyo, Japan

There you have it five fun fights. I plan to do more FanPosts and do a better job at it, but I hope you all liked these.

im a K-1 fan so i m glad someone posts such an article too

but i would have put the Ghita- Gokhan Saki fight instead of the Ghita -Gerges fight. Because their fight ( Saki-Ghita) was really the best of that night. I LOVED that Zambidis-Chahid fight. Zambidis is a great great fighter

and one of the best ever slugfests which i have EVER seen was the one

which happenned between Ruslan Karaev and Azem Maksutaj. That one everyone should watch it was incredible!!!!

and the Nr. 2 is the Ruslan Karaev vs. Badr Hari second fight which ends hilariously with a double KO-

and finally the Red Scorpion would also earn some place with many of his great fights :)

Karaev is/ was such a beast I hope he can come back, but my most vivid memory of him was when Manhoeff knocked him out.

Karaev has a great heart as a fighter

imagine he has about 250 fights which fighter can say this ? Karaev counts as a real veteran and he s still young. The bad with Russian fighters is, that there is always a problem with their visa… that stopped Karaev from so many of his fights… i dont know what’s up with him, last time he trained at GG and then nothing.. Melvin is great too.. his only thing is.. that he is small… he is too small for his weight class. Besides a great fighter

That Zambidis fight was great

I’d seen that a couple times before, always solid. I’m unaware of some of these others, so I’m gonna make with the clicking and enjoy the fun.

Oh I plan on doing plenty of kickboxing/muay thai fanposts, for I live in a world where fighters of all forms of competition can be enjoyed by the same fans
