Shootboxing 2011 Act 4: Rena Kubota vs. Jessica Penne Completes Fight Card

via shootboxing.org

The Shootboxing 2011 Act 4 card has added another fight, as promotional star Rena Kubota will meet Jessica Penne in the event's lone female bout. Shootboxing 2011 Act 4 is scheduled for September 10th, and will be headlined by a bout between mixed martial artist Toby Imada and Muay Thai striker Bovy Sor. Udomson.

Rena Kubota defeated Zaza Sor. Aree on August 19th to bounce back from two consecutive underwhelming performances. The two-time Girls S-Cup champion was surprisingly dominated by Erika Kamimura in an exhibition bout this April, and lost a title bout to Ai Takahashi in June. It would seem that the Shootboxing organization really is looking to rebuild Rena's credibility, as she's one of the major draws under their banner.

Jessica Penne is an American mixed martial artist who will be making her Shootboxing debut. Penne is 8-1 in mixed martial arts, going 1-1 in competition for Bellator. The last time that most fans saw Penne, the 28-year-old Californian dropped a decision Zoila Gurgel at Bellator 25.

With the addition of the bout between Rena and Penne, the full fight card is as follows:

Toby Imada vs. Bovy Sor. Udomson

Shigeki Osawa vs. Yusuke Sugawara

Satoru Suzuki vs. Kenji Kanai (Shootboxing Japan super welterweight title fight)

Akito Sakimura vs. Naguranchun Masa M16 (Shootboxing Japan featherweight title fight)

I saw her fight against

Ai Takahashi (?), and it was hard to figure out how good she was with that strange merry-go-round clinchfest that ensued for most of the bouts running time.

Just my personal opinion here...

but Shootboxing’s female division isn’t anything I’m amazed by.
