Giorgio Petrosyan Out of It's Showtime Fast and Furious Following Hand Surgery

via cdn1.sbnation.com

After a lengthy period of silence, It's Showtime released a statement earlier today which acknowledged the injury suffered by Giorgio Petrosyan in his July 18th bout against Hinata Watanabe and also stated that he will not be competing in the promotion's Fast and Furious tournament on September 24th.

Per It's Showtime's statement, it seems that the two-time K-1 MAX champion did, in fact, break his hand in the win over Hinata and has undergone surgery as such.

It seems that fans will have to wait to see Giorgio Petrosyan back in the kickboxing ring until November. According to a tweet from Daniel Herbertson, Simon Rutz has stated that Petrosyan will compete at a yet to be named card in the Canary Islands at that time.

The preliminary round of It's Showtime's Fast and Furious 70 kg. tournament was set to see Giorgio Petrosyan meet Chahid Oulad el Hadj in a rematch of a May bout which was declared a no contest following an accidental low blow.

It's Showtime is currently searching for someone to take Petrosyan's spot in the tournament, though it will be difficult to find a suitable replacement for the man who was easily the tournament favorite.

Abraham Roqueni is quite deserving.

Roqueni leads the pack for me, as far as realistic choices go.

I’d be curious to see if most people are leaning in that direction, though I’d assume not.

Clearly the favourite to win this tournament

Guess we have to do without the art of the doctor for some time.
Let’s hope his seemingly brittle hands heal properly this time.

For now I will settle for the finale between Souwer and Kyshenko.
