Alistair Overeem to Compete at Glory World Series in October?
From the event poster, that would seem to be the case.
And Martijn de Jong, Overeem's trainer at Golden Glory Gym and promoter of the event, seemed to confirm with Ariel Helwani a matchup for the Glory World Series final in Moscow in October.
"No opponent named yet but probably a MMA match," de Jong said.
This comes on the heels of Overeem's highly controversial removal from the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, which supposedly has a fixed date for September, a month prior to Overeem's committed return to action. In his place, tournament reserve Daniel Cormier was inserted to face Antonio Silva in the semi-finals of the Grand Prix.
Also to be noted is the inclusion of another tournament participant, Sergei Kharitinov, on the poster. Kharitinov is slated to meet Josh Barnett in the other semi-final contest. Both Kharitinov and Overeem have a history of remaining active, and it would seem possible that Overeem may take a match against an easy opponent to stay busy during the denouement of the Strikeforce tournament, awaiting it's winner for an eventual Strikeforce championship bout.

Thank you for holding me down while I'm at work and can't actually write articles.
This could be interesting.

overeem doesn’t care about staying in any one sport long enough to matter. other than curiosity factor. what a joke and a waste. he’s not serious about mma if he’s not fighting a guy he can beat.
Gatti. Dekkers. Pele. Aoki. Kang. Vanderlei. Basillio. Harry Greb.

I no longer care about Overeem
He’s obviously not the best MMA heavyweight and he seems to have no intention of proving he is. I highly doubt that he’s even close to the best kickboxer; cheating against Spong and then beating half-dead Saki and Aerts isn’t all that impressive. Schilt would eat him for breakfast.
He’s a whiner who thinks his shit doesn’t stink. I’d pay big money to watch him get steamrolled by Vitali Klitschko in two rounds.
There’s only one thing I like more than powerbottom, and that’s BloodyElbow.com
