It's Showtime: Artem Levin vs. Murthel Groenhart in Title Bout, Sept. 24th

Affiche_fn_large

It's Showtime 77 kg. MAX champion, Artem Levin is set to defend his title against the always exciting Murthel Groenhart in Brussels, Belgium on September 24th. While It's Showtime has been rather quiet as of late, the bout has been acknowledged by Brussels Fight Night Group, frequent co-promoters of the Dutch kickboxing organization.

Artem Levin has quietly amassed a truly impressive resume in recent years, most notably securing the vacant It's Showtime 77 kg. title in a win over L'houcine Ouzgni last December in Amsterdam. Levin followed that victory up with another impressive performance in a title bout, collecting the WBC Muay Thai light heavyweight world title against Kaoklai Kaennorsing in February. In addition to his strong showings in both professional kickboxing and Muay Thai, Levin has made a significant impact on amateur Muay Thai, securing his fourth straight IFMA European Muay Thai Championship gold medal earlier this year.

Murthel Groenhart made a real impression on fans with back-to-back wins under the It's Showtime banner in June, as the Surinamese-Dutch fighter defeated Errol Koning by decision at It's Showtime Warsaw on June 11th, only to step in for William Diender against Rafi Zouheir and stop the Spanish standout inside of the first round at It's Showtime Madrid on June 18th. While the win over Zouheir has been painted as controversial by some, Groenhart looked truly impressive and well different from the fighter who was falling just short of top competition in late 2010.

The 77 kg. title match up serves as the primary support for the It's Showtime Fast and Furious 70 kg. tournament, set to play out on the same evening. In fact, BFN Group has identified the contestants in the eight-man tournament's two reserve match ups, which will see William Diender squaring off with Andy Ristie and Yavuz Kayabasi meeting Ahmed Zragoua.

Other bouts set for the September 24th event include Marat Grigorian vs. Kenneth van Eesvelde and Sonny Dagraed vs. Abdel Fakiri.

Groenhart is a monster

It’s rare to see a skull collector like Groenhart in the middleweight divisions. Normally the middleweights are always really technical.
