Giorgio Petrosyan Injures Hand in Victory Over Hinata on July 18th
It has been reported that two-time K-1 MAX champion Giorgio Petrosyan suffered yet another hand injury in his July 18th decision win against Hinata Watanabe.
Italian news source Il Piccolo claims that the Armenian-Italian standout fractured his left hand in the course of the bout at It's Showtime Japan Countdown 1 this past Monday.
The most dominant fighter in kickboxing, Petrosyan's recurring hand injuries have been the only real hurdle in his now four and a half year undefeated streak. His most recent issue arose during the K-1 World MAX 2010 Final and forced Petrosyan out of a bout against Pajonsuk last December.
This newest hand injury brings some concern regarding Petrosyan's planned participation in the upcoming It's Showtime Fast and Furious 70 kg. tournament. Petrosyan is set to fight Chahid Oulad el Hadj in the preliminary round of the eight man tournament come September 24th. Their first match up, at It's Showtime Lyon in May, ended in a no contest after Petrosyan hit el Hadj with an accidental low blow. Petrosyan was well on his way to victory when the bout was halted in the third round.
