Battle in the Desert III: Cosmo Alexandre to Headline Against Sakmongkol
Good news for fans of American Muay Thai, as Lion Fight Promotions continues to put together intriguing events out in Nevada. Battle in the Desert III is set for August 20th in Primm, Nevada and will be headlined by a bout between Cosmo Alexandre and Sakmongkol Sitchuchoke.
The main event was officially announced by Lion Fight Promotions in a press release early this past week:
Cosmo Alexandre and Sakmongkol Sitchuchoke are scheduled to fight for 5 rounds by 3 minutes each round under Full Muay Thai Rules at an agreed weight of 155 lbs.
Readers are certain to familiar with Cosmo Alexandre, the former It's Showtime 77 kg. MAX champion and King's Cup winner. Alexandre took his first bout in the United States at Battle in the Desert II, where he defeated Cyrus Washington. The Brazilian standout has been training in the United States for some time now, and is currently housed at Imperial Athletics in Florida.
As for Sakmongkol, there's really nothing more you can say other than that the man is a legend in Muay Thai. Sakmongkol holds career victories over John Wayne Parr, Ramon Dekkers, and many more. He resides in the U.S. himself now, and is a Muay Thai instructor in Colorado. Before shifting his focus to Alexandre, Sakmongkol will actually be meeting former Contender Asia cast member James Martinez in a bout next weekend. While the real height of the Thai's competitive career has past, you might want to study up if you're not familiar with his name.
Battle in the Desert III is also set to host a 175 lb. bout between Joe Schilling and Brandon Banda and a 155 lb. bout between Chaz Mulkey and Remy Bonnel. Romie Adanza and Britian's Damien Trainor will meet at 188 lb., while new WBC Muay Thai interim champion Ky Hollenbeck is set to appear, as are Anthony Castrejon and Sittisak Por. Sirichai.
