It's Showtime Madrid: Tyrone Spong vs. Loren Javier Jorge in Main Event
Tyrone Spong will return to the ring on Saturday evening at It's Showtime Madrid, headlining the event in a heavyweight contest against Spain's own Loren Javier Jorge.
All indications show that this bout is about building more steam for Tyrone Spong and setting up some of the bigger heavyweight fights that It's Showtime has the roster to put together.
Insofar as that is the case, it's more of the same for Spong. The Surinamese-Dutch standout returns after just over a month long break, having made quick work of Igor Mihaljevic at It's Showtime Lyon on May 14th. That bout marked Spong's first of 2011, as well as his first since having committed to the heavyweight division full-time and vacating his promotional 95 kg. title.
Like Spong, Javier Jorge is a veteran of the area around 95 kg. Unlike Spong, Javier Jorge hasn't made the sort of physical changes that are going to convince fans he's entirely at home in the heavyweight division. He's certainly a top fighter in Spain, having shown good power and smart defense in many of his bouts. Javier Jorge holds wins over fellow It's Showtime Madrid competitor Moises Ruibal, as well as recent Errol Zimmerman opponent Zinedine Hameur Lain, to name a couple.
The issue is this: Loren Javier Jorge has some upside, but he's fighting Tyrone Spong. Spong has both speed and size on his side in this one. The previously mentioned win against Moises Ruibal? Ruibal is fighting at 85 kg. on Saturday. What's more, Javier Jorge's strong points are things that Spong tends to do better, and the Spanish fighter has some glaring weaknesses. The foremost would is likely a slow left hook that can only spell trouble in the long run.

Thanks for the It's Showtime coverage
I really hope these events air live on HDNet one day. Next week, HDNet is airing It’s Showtime 49.
Same here.
I’m speaking with Simon Rutz sometime next month, I’ll try and see if there are plans for live broadcasts in the US on HDNet.

While you’re at it, tell him that when they make this big announcement, it better not involve a World Domination diagram and talk of a kickboxing World Cup.
Hahahahahahaha
