Glory World Series: Artur Kyshenko Dominant in Win Against Nieky Holzken
Ukrainian standout Artur Kyshenko was able to cruise to victory against Golden Glory's Nieky Holzken in what was perhaps the most anticipated bout of the Glory World Series final.
While the first round of their bout was rather competitive, Nieky Holzken looked handcuffed for much of the final two rounds as Kyshenko mixed in solid boxing, including his routine body shots, with a number of knee strikes and even an attempt at a spinning heel kick.
For his part, Nieky Holzken did manage to fnd a home for his left hook at times. He actually used the punch to leave Kyshenko stunned late in the second round, although the Ukrainian clearly took the round and left Holzken with considerable swelling around his eye in the process.
There was little question regarding the decision and, thankfully, the judges got it right. Artur Kyshenko was declared the winner via unanimous decision, adding momentum to his ascent toward the top of the kickboxing world.
Kyshenko was coming off of a dominant win over Gago Drago at It's Showtime Amsterdam Sporthallen Zuid 2011 in March.
Holzken entered on a three fight win streak, having defeated Murthel Groenhart and Carlos Tavares on United Glory cards and secured the WFCA super middleweight title in a bout against Thilo Schneider.
Both Kyshenko and Holzken have been feeling out weight limits above 70 kg., and it would be quite interesting to see what type of an impact they could have in helping legitimize the area between 70 and 77 kg.
