Toby Imada vs. Hiroki Shishido to Headline Shootboxing 2011 Act 3, June 5th
Mixed martial artist Toby Imada will make his return to Shootboxing on June 5th in a bout against promotional standout Hiroki Shishido.
The bout will be Toby Imada's first under the Shootboxing banner since his unlikely run at S-Cup 2010 last November. Imada was able to defeat former K-1 MAX champion Andy Souwer by split decision in the semifinal round of last year's tournament, effectively stealing the show before being stopped by Buakaw Por. Pramuk in the tournament final.
Hiroki Shishido also competed at S-Cup 2010, although his time in the tournament was much more abbreviated. The Japanese fighter was unfortunate to draw Buakaw in the quarterfinal round, though he improved on his last effort against the Thai standout, lasting three rounds before dropping a unanimous decision. Shishido also competed at Shootboxing 2011 Act 1 in February, where he was able to avenge a 2009 loss to Bovy Sor. Udomson.
Rena Kubota and Ai Takahashi are also scheduled to square off on the evening, in what will be a rematch of the Girls S-Cup 2010 final. While Rena is still regarded as Shootboxing's top female competitor, the S-Cup winner was floored by Erika Kamimura in a short exhibition at Shootboxing 2011 Act 2 in April. For her part, Ai Takahashi has gone 2-0 under the Shootboxing banner this year, securing both wins by way of knockout.
It appears that Satoru Suzuki will also be on the card, although no opponent has been confirmed for the former boxing titlist thus far.
