Mark "Fight Shark" Miller Set to Return at United Glory in Russia
In a match that will undoubtedly be the most important kickboxing match of the year, Mark "Fight Shark" Miller is set to make his long awaited return at United Glory in Russia. There won't be a title on the line, but the amount of pride friends of Miller will share will make this the biggest fight of Miller's career. Plans to make Mark the face of K-1 in America were scrapped when he underwent Aortic Valve Replacement aka OPEN HEART SURGERY.
Mark has been a fantastic person to interact with and has a positive outlook, staying motivated when most others would have quit. He has battled back from the brink, getting back in fight shape to become the FIRST FIGHTER EVER TO RETURN FROM OPEN HEART SURGERY. Take a moment and realize how significant that actually is. People aren't supposed to be able to return to strenuous activity after open heart surgery. It's the man's determination that has allowed him to go through such hell in life and come out the other side a better man.
His opponent isn't a scrub in any sense of the word. You may remember Nikolaj Falin as the man who Gokhan Saki fought in the first round of the United Glory tournament. He is a tough fight for anyone, and will be the stiffest test of Miller's career. Adding to the significance of the return, Miller will be wrapping up the documentary he's been filming about his return to competition called "FightShark" which will cover the trials and tribulations in and outside of the gym that led to his return to the ring. The trailer is after the jump.
The fight goes down on May 28th at Ultimate Glory in Moscow.
