Buakaw, Saenchai Scheduled for Stand Up Promotions Event in August
Muay Thai Authority brought the news earlier:
Stand Up Promotions will host "World Class Championship Muay Thai" at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 13th in Anaheim, CA. The event will feature Buakaw Por. Pramuk, Saenchai Sinibi Gym, Kaoklai Kennorising, Saiyok Pumpanmuang, and Rungravee Sasiprapa. All five Thai fighters are world class, but most will likely be excited to see former K-1 Max, and WMC champion Buakaw make his United States debut.
This is real intriguing news for American fans of Muay Thai, and an interesting step for the California-based Stand Up Promotions in particular. The promotion's last effort on March 5th was headlined by this WBC Muay Thai super middleweight national title bout between Joe Schilling and Chase Green. While the participation of Thai fighters is clearly central to their August event, I hope (and expect) that the presence of international stars will enable the promotion to further highlight some of the real domestic talent that America has to offer. We'll just have to wait for the card to fill out, I suppose.
Before Buakaw Por. Pramuk makes his first appearance on American soil, he will be competing at the Thai Fight Extreme 2011 event in Cannes, France on May 14th. The same is true for Saiyok, who will also be making his American debut at the Stand Up Promotions event.
Saenchai is set to see action before appearing in California as well, as he will square off against British standout Liam Harrison on April 9th.

Awesome
I used to follow K-1 only marginally, mainly through Kid’s crossover (was a big fan of the Hero’s shows, which started with Hero’s 2), but thanks to your fantastic work, and guys like Dave Walsh, I’m slowly getting back into it, and it helps with news of the only familiar face I knew following the sport in 2005. Keep up the good, underappreciated work.
