El Desafio K-1 Results: Roqueni Upsets Souwer, el Mhassani and Rijse Win
Results are in via Spanish source SpaceBoxing.com, and it seems that Abraham Roqueni may have had something more for Andy Souwer than many of us realized when they met earlier today in Malaga, Spain. Roqueni was able to take a decision against Souwer in the feature bout at El Desafio K-1, a bout which evidently saw Souwer rally late but not manage to do enough for the victory. I know that Souwer weighed in slightly over the 70kg. limit in what was definitely supposed to be a warm up bout for his upcoming appearance under the it's Showtime banner.
While Souwer did fight a bulk of his 2010 bouts for Shootboxing, including the surprise loss to Toby Imada in the semifinals of the S-Cup in November, the Dutch fighter also secured victories over Faldir Chahbari and Pajonsuk last year.
Also on the card, Spain's Fran Palenzuela was able to follow up his non-tournament victory at K-1 MAX Madrid with a win at El Desafio, defeating German Denis Schneidmiller on points.
Sev Rijse defeated Julio Sanchez by knockout while Youness el Mhassani took a decision victory against Oliver Tinda. el Mhassani is set to appear for It's Showtime on the promotion's March 6th card, although it is still unclear who his opponent will be. Earlier reports seemed to indicate he would meet the promotion's 77kg. champion Artem Levin, but that may no longer be the case.
Dutch veteran Hafid el Boustati fought Spanish titlist Manuel Hinojo to a draw.
Look for videos and any further information related to the event to come your way when it becomes available.

Bad call by ref
Apparently Souwer slipped in the 2nd round but the ref called it a knock down, and with his usual slow first round it’s no wonder he lost the decision.
That sucks :(
Knock down for left hook! you will see the video, great Abrham Roqueñi victory.
in the photo is not Roqueni!! is Saro Presti, for Roqueñi photos:

Absolute last time I post something at 2AM.
I copied the wrong damn photo link at Google and didn’t even notice.
So some are saying it was a legitimate knockdown, some say a slip… hmm.

Hmmm...

Not sure about that knock down. Could have been called either way, but Roqueni should have gotten an 8 count in the 3rd when they stopped to look at his cut. It’s funny how they stop the fight as Roqueni was getting smashed to look at his cut, but didn’t stop shit to look at Andy’s cut when Roqueni had the momentum. Seemed to me that Andy didn’t get into his groove until the 3rd round though. Shitty…
Yeah, I personally don't have an issue with the knockdown.
I see the point about the need for a standing eight on that cut check though. Roqueni hadn’t been doing too bad earlier in the third either though. Souwer started throwing harder than hell about 45 seconds in, but Roqueni was really hanging for a while.
