Andrei Arlovski Out of K-1 World Grand Prix Now

Photo

It has been a hectic few weeks when it comes to K-1 news, and it just keeps on coming as it looks like Andrei Arlovski's much-anticipated K-1 debut has been put on ice. The word came down from Andrei Arlovski's twitter account tonight, with no word from K-1 yet (who has still yet to speak on Ray Sefo's inclusion officially) that Arlovski will not be competing in the K-1 World GP 2010 Final 16.

I would like to confirm that I am not participating in the K-1 on October 2nd

The word has been spreading around that Arlovski has possibly suffered an injury in training, which could account for the last minute change in the card. The injury being talked about is a broken nose, and while broken noses in fighting are not uncommon at all, one before a fight could be detrimental for Arlovski, as a broken nose can lead to swelling of the nose as well as the eye, making it difficult to see. A simple tap on the nose could cause swelling and ruin his vision.

The big question now is who K-1 will be able to find on short notice to replace Arlovski. Maybe Ruslan Karaev is doing better? Alexey Ignashov would love to get another shot at the K-1 World Grand Prix, I'm sure.

Why would Karaev get back in? Isn’t his knee hurt?

I think Ignashov is injured too.

Carnage is the best choice.

Karaev's injury wasn't that bad

I agree with Carnage, 1,000%

Maybe they’ll just continue the MMA fighter gimmick and move up Kharitonov.

If being utterly incompetent before Ghita’s low kicks and showing up fat more times than not is enough for qualification, they should get Lashenko.

Or Bob Sapp for that matter.

Ah, but Sapp isn’t named Sergei!

I’m still on the dove-loving war-train from Ukraine!

Too bad

I would’ve liked to see how far his boxing skill could take him in k1.

What a shame

If they continue the MMA fighter thing though. I wouldn’t mind Mousasi short notice.

+1

thanks god … no serious problem for K-1 someone who had not any pro Kickboxing fight in his career how could fight in F16 ?!! there are many better fighters to compete this event.
of course Ruslan is best choice !!
IMO Ruslan at least will be in Final 4 if he participate in F16.
and Ignashov , Corbett , Manhoef , Samedov , Anderson “Braddock” Silva are good fighters for replace him.

I concur.

I haven’t heard how Ruslan’s injury is healing or if he has been training at all, you’d have to think he’d be the first they’d ask.

I can see Corbett or Manhoef filling the spot, but then again, who knows. K-1 is weird sometimes.

Isn’t Carnage about 85/90 kg??? He sure has the potential, but he seems jsut too light.
I think Manhoef will step in. He is always ready to fight …

by D-rop on Sep 29, 2010 6:04 AM EDT up reply actions

Melvin isnt much heavier either. I think the real reason why we havent seen Carnage in K-1 is that he already stated that he has no interest in fighting super-heavyweights,and getting knocked out by a technically and skill-wise inferior but much bigger fighter.

But Catinas is also a small guy,I would LOVE to see him vs Corbett.

Will we

Maybe see Arloski on the dynomite card for NYE? that would be a good addition, espically under K-1 rules opposed to Dream rules.

?????

I think he’s afraid he’l get ko-ed ,i hope this thing doesnt throw Catinas out of final 16 he deserves to be in ,a good replacement would be Patrice Quarteron who also get a lot of fan votes or Brice Guidon a good technical fighter

Would love for Badr to run in and surprise everyone.

Kinda feels like a bootleg GP without him.
