Satoshi Ishii in to face Minowa at DREAM.16
In a last-minute addition to the card; 2008 Olympic gold medalist, Satoshi Ishii, will make his DREAM debut against Super Hulk champion, Ikuhisa Minowa. Early reports from Ariel Helwani were saying that Minowa would take on James "The Colossus" Thompson, but "The Punk" will now take on the judoka in an openweight affair.
According to Tony Loiseleur of Sherdog.com, the deal was signed on Tuesday in a meeting between FEG president, Keiichi Sasahara, and World Victory Road president, Toru Mukai. K-Dash representative, Tatsuo Katsumura, and Don Quijote owner and SRC sponsor, Takao Yasuda, were also present. Mukai made it public that Ishii only has one-fight left on his World Victory Road contract, which allows him to compete in other promotions.
James Thompson and his camp are in Japan and FEG are working to find him a replacement opponent for this weekend's card. However, Keiichi Sasahara stated he is unsure if a bout could be made in time for the card.
"DREAM.16" will take place in Nagoya, Japan at the Nippon Gaishi Hall on Saturday, September 25th.
