More Rumored K-1 World Grand Prix Final 16 Matches; Badr Hari vs. Hesdy Gerges Rematch Rumored

Hot on the heels of getting word of the first bout for the K-1 World Grand Prix Final 16 there are some strong rumorscirculating about some of the other Final 16 bouts for October 2nd in Seoul, South Korea. Ben Edwards vs. Alistair Overeem is the bout we have heard through somewhat official channels and is quite the blockbuster of a fight, and in that vein so are the other fights that are rumored.

Badr Hari vs. Hesdy Gerges
Kyotaro vs. Gokhan Saki
Peter Aerts vs. Ewerton Teixeira
Errol Zimmerman vs. Jerome Le Banner

The other rumored participants (some not exactly rumored but confirmed) are Sem Schilt, Ruslan Karaev, Freddy Kemayo, Singh Jaideep and the other two fighters have yet to be chosen.

Also rumored is that the remainder of the K-1 MAX Final 16 will take place in Seoul, with the rumored matches for this event laying out as follows;

Vitaly Hurkou vs. Giorgio Petrosyan
Mootje Khamal vs. Arthur Kyshenko
Mike Zambidis vs. Chahid Oulad El Hadj

Also featured will be Gago Drago, Su Hwan Lee and two others (possibly Buakaw Por. Pramuk).

There are some absolutely huge fights here, including a Gokhan Saki vs. Kyotaro rematch, Errol Zimmerman vs. Jerome Le Banner, the Badr Hari vs. Hesdy Gerges rematch and the inclusion of Peter Aerts into this year's World Grand Prix against Ewerton Teixeira.

Of course nothing is final in these regards until we hear from official sources, but if this is indeed how the Final 16 is shaping up it should be an incredible show.

In a way.

Three of the K-1 MAX fights have already happened.

This means there still needs to be about 5 (unless they do a weird bye system, which they won’t if the champ needs to qualify still) K-1 MAX fights to round it out. This will have to be at least a 15-fight card if they go that route.

8 WGP fights
5 K-1 MAX fights
Maybe 1 reserve fight per division in case someone is injured between the Final 16 and Final 8.

I still keep hoping that souwer and buakaw will join the max card.

Vitali Hurkou I think is fighting October 25th in the 2nd round of the Thai-Fight tournament agaisnt Petchmankong

Yeah if this turns out to all be accurate, there are a lot of non-K-1 shows that may see their line-ups impacted. In addition to Hurkou, there’s also Zimmerman and Saki scheduled for October at United Glory, and Khamal and Gerges scheduled for December for It’s Showtime (should either make the Final 8 that could conflict).

All great rumors so far, with a really exciting card on paper. I LOVE Zimmerman v. Le Banner as a match up in particular, and Edwards v. Overeem has spectacular KO written all over it.

Badr is going to destroy Hesdy gerges

Saki vs Kyotaro will definitely be FIGHT OF THE NIGHT. Zimerman vs LeBanner is a great match up too.
And i seriously FEAR that Aerts can be damaged badly after this fight. Fighting in one more GP was a VERY BAD decision and could be fatal

It`s against Teixeira... How damaged can he get?

Anyway. Saki vs Kyotaro is great, so is Le Banner vs Zimmermann. Hari vs Gerges has commercial potential written all over it, who doesn`t want to see part 2 right? Should draw some wievers, and I for one think Gerges has a chance and it might be an exciting fight. Now if all these rumored match-ups are in fact true we are finally in for some amazing K-1 action again…

Zambidis vs Chahid will be wicked!

That fight should be realllly action packed. Both little guys who dont stop coming forward.
But if Andy Souwer isnt in the MAX i have a feeling Petrosyan isn’t going to have much of a competition, unless they get Yodsenklai or something in the MAX. but i dont see that happening…
