In an interview this week, Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem hinted that if Strikeforce doesn't offer him Fabricio Werdum that he is going to fight in the World Grand Prix instead.

"Being Strikeforce champion, I will defend my belt. It depends if Werdum is available to fight. If not, I will think of entering the K-1 Grand Prix."

I want him in the GP, but ...

I would rather he put this kind of pressure on the Fedor fight. But I assume he wants to fight someone not coming off a loss and someone who has a win over him.

I’d rather him in the WGP also. More entertaining match ups there. Rubber match is Badr will be epic.

Yep. I think the most high profile match, within his current situation, is in the WGP. A rematch with Badr and a possibility to fight for the WGP belt and 400K is too much to pass up.

Sounds good to me! Bigfoot fight is stupid, should be either Werdum or Fedor. Anyway it can wait, would suck to miss Overeem in K1 WGP this year. Hope he makes the right choice! K-1 all the way baby

It’s certainly the move that makes the most sense for his career. A rubber match with Ubereem and Badr would be huge. Also, taking home the WGP belt and that big check is, IMO, a bigger deal than defending his Strikeforce belt to Werdum or Fedor, at this point.

That’s true, unfortunately. I would like to see him win the WGP and head for the UFC. Only thing hindering that is the pesky Strikeforce champion’s clause.

MMA blogs are boring if they don’t have a boogie man outside the UFC.

Alistair deserves to be in the UFC, though. He’s earned it, especially if he were to beat Fedor/Werdum. Where does he go from there? Fighting Bigfoot? He should get better than that.

He took years off of strikeforce before and he should do the same until he gets fedor or werdum, any other fights are a waste right now. Nothing against bigfoot, but it just dosn't add up for me...

I like the feeling of hunting down what I feed my family. If there’s a beast out there capable of hunting down Brock Lesnar, he would do it and make me the trophy on his den wall. But the laws of nature dictate that I’m going to be the one who goes into the wild and comes home with the evening’s bounty. - The #1 ranked HW in the world...

I would rather watch him in the WGP

The Bigfoot fight won’t do much for his US exposure, Bigfoot is still relatively unknown himself. If Bigfoot can get another solid win you could argue for his title contention by Strikeforce standards so they should just do the fight after that.

Have Bigfoot beat Sergei or something first.
