RISE Result Shocker: Hinata Defeats Kyshenko

Hinata celebrates after stopping top 5 ranked Artur Kyshenko.

Hinata celebrates after stopping top 5 ranked Artur Kyshenko.

Huge surprise coming out of Japan today - Hinata has upset Artur Kysehnko.  The two men faced off in the main event at RISE 68.  This was expected to be a relatively easy win for Kyshenko, who is a consensus top 5 fighter.  Instead, the young Hinata scored an unbelievable TKO win in round 3.

With this win, Hinata has now defeated two top 10 opponents this year (Kyshenko and Yuya Yamamoto) and is poised to make a real move in K-1.

We'll have full results and more as they become available.

Hinata is always great for 1 fight, but he can’t hack it in tournaments.

I don’t see this.

This year, he won a big fight in the quarter finals of the 2010 GP, the hardest fought contest of that round, then lost to a very good opponent in the semis. He looked fantastic at the 2009 Japan MAX GP, and only dropped out because of injury. It happens. So personally, I don’t see that as a pattern just yet.

Wow. Lately, Kyshenko seems to fight lazy. I wonder if he underestimated Hinata big time, or did Hinata fight that good.
