Alistair Overeem Talks Future Plans; Would Like to Compete in K-1
Everybody who has been following K-1 knows that Alistair Overeem has qualified for this year's Final 16, which means all he has to do is step into the ring at the Final 16 and win his fight and in December he is in the K-1 World Grand Prix again, but the question has been lingering as to what he will do. He has made it clear that Strikeforce is his focus for 2010, but the dream match against Fedor Emelianenko went up in smoke when Fabricio Werdum submitted Fedor, leaving Alistair's next match up for grabs. Werdum, it seems, will also be out the rest of the year due to elbow surgery, and Scott Coker will not give Fedor a title fight against Overeem unless Fedor signs a contract extension with a championship clause.
What a mess. Alistair competed in seven professional fights in 2009; 3 MMA fights and 4 K-1 fights, leaving absolutely nothing on the table by always competing. With 2010 halfway over, Alistair has fought twice, mostly due to his Strikeforce obligations, and has nothing planned for the future. Something that would be considered impossible looking at last year's activity for The Reem. So the question was finally posed (we asked months ago, but you know, we aren't an AOL subsidiary); will you fight for K-1 in the Final 16?
"I have qualified for the final 16. I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to compete, but I would like to compete. K-1 is striking, I like it, it has a little bit different audience. It's very popular in Holland. So yeah, I want to become champion. I see myself as champion."
There you go. Strikeforce's next show is October and unless they can deliver a money fight, all of my chips are on Overeem moving forward with K-1. Nothing is concrete, but we can hope that this year's Final 16 starts to shape up for certain soon.

That’s really not the full context, and it robs Overeem’s quote of it’s meaning. He says K1 is his 3rd choice for October, behind fighting Werdum and then Fedor. Whether or not SF can put either of those fights together is another thing. Source: http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2010/7/20/1579274/alistair-overeem-wants-fabricio.
It actually doesn't alter the meaning.
It simply gets to the point that is being made here, as it is the most solid thing Overeem has said about the Final 16 all year.
If you operate under the assumption that Werdum isn’t going to have a miracle recovery and fight in October and that Fedor most likely will not fight Overeem for the title, after everything we’ve heard, it is a logical deduction.

As much as I want to see him in MMA, K-1 would be better
Is Hari fighting? I rubber match would be awesome.
