DREAM.15 Matches Announced: Omigawa, Nakamura, Ishida and DJ Taiki on Tap
After a false start with Alistair Overeem vs. Ricco Rodriguez and only days away, DREAM has finally produced a card announcement for DREAM.15. DREAM.15 marks the return of Yoshida Dojo into the FEG fold, which was predicted after the retirement of Hidehiko Yoshida. The biggest fight involving the Yoshida Dojo is Michihiro Omigawa making his return to the DREAM ring taking on 0-2 Korean fighter Jong Yon Sam. Of course, it wouldn't be Omigawa if he wasn't full of passion and made some sort of ridiculous statement, which of course was that he will not abide by DREAM's weight class restrictions. Omigawa will not fight at 61kgs, only 65kgs, which means they will take a book out of Strikeforce's spiral-bound playbook and make it a catchweight.
Another announced bout is Karl Amoussou will take on Kazuhiro Nakamura. Amoussou is a prospect from M-1 Global whose big league record is a draw against Trevor Prangley in ShoMMA/Strikeforce Challengers. Nakamura is coming off of a career-high of retiring his mentor Hidehiko Yoshida after an uninspired run in Sengoku.
The last fight is a bigger one, with Mitsuhiro Ishida taking on DJ Taiki, with Taiki coming off of a disappointing attempt at the K-1 World MAX -63kgs Grand Prix. Ishida is coming off a nearly year-long layoff, with his most recent fight a loss to Gilbert Melendez in Strikeforce last August. This bout will also be a catchweight.
