Updated 2010 Grand Prix Fields
After recent action in both the MAX and HW Grand Prix, let's take a look at the updated fields for the 2010 Grand Prix Finals.
FINAL 16
1. Semmy Schilt (2009 Grand Prix Champion)
2. Badr Hari (2009 Finalist)
3. Alistair Overeem (2009 Semi-Finalist)
4. Remy Bonjasky* (2009 Semi-Finalist)
5. Jerome Le Banner (2009 Quarter Finalist)
6. Errol Zimmerman (2009 Quarter Finalist)
7. Ruslan Karaev (2009 Quarter Finalist)
8. Ewerton Teixeira (2009 Quarter Finalist)
9. Kyotaro (Heavyweight Champion)
10. Freddy Kemayo (East Europe GP Champion)
11. Ben Edwards (Oceania GP Champion)
12. TBA (Asia GP Japan)
13. TBA (TBA Qualifying GP)
14. TBA (Wild Card)
15. TBA (Wild Card)
16. TBA (Wild Card)
Five slots remain open. At least two should be filled by qualifying tournaments - one in Asia and one other yet to be named (though I would imagine it will be in Japan). Konstantin Gluhov has qualified for one of this tournaments. For the other three wild cards, both Gokhan Saki and Ray Sefo are leading candidates for slots at this point. Other names to consider in the GP picture are Peter Aerts and Daniel Ghita.
Finally, Remy Bonjasky is a bit of a question mark. The rumors have died down a bit, but there has been serious talk of Remy retiring this year and perhaps not taking part in the GP.
Switching gears, here is how MAX is shaping up so far:
MAX FINAL 8
1. Albert Kraus (2009 Quarter-Finalist; defeated Nakajima)
2. Yuichiro Nagashima (Japan GP Champion; defeated Dida)
3. Yoshihiro Sato (defeated Yamamoto)
4-8. TBD in European leg of Final 16
MAX FINAL 16 (Remaining)
7. Giorgio Petorsyan (2009 GP Champion)
8. Andy Souwer (2009 Finalist)
9. Artur Kyshenko (2009 Quarter-Finalist)
10. Su Hwan Lee (Wild Card)
11. Mo Khamal (West Europe GP Champion)
12. Vitaly Horkou (East Europe GP Champion)
13. Michal Glogowski (Wild Card)
14. Chahid Oulad El Hadj (Wild Card) OR Gago Drago (2009 Quarter-Finalist)
15. Buakaw Por. Pramuk (2009 Semi-Finalist) OR Pajonsuk (Wild Card)
16. TBA (Wild Card)

Absolutely...
He lost a decision to Badr in his “official” big comeback fight…that says he belongs up there
I seriously cannot wait for both of these tournaments
What are the dates?
No dates set for sure, but the Final 16 for both MAX and K-1 should be September, with the MAX Finals coming late October and the K-1 finals early December.

Isn’t Remy like one solid shot away from going blind? If that’s true, he should pass. He’s done enough, the legend is secure
I throw raps that attack like the Japs on Pearl Harbor/MC's be out like bank robbers/Fleeing the scene, to be a sole survivor/DJ the getaway driver/Tried to dip but he dive, I socialize on vocal vibes/On tracks stabbed up with razor sharp knives
THE ONLY
2 Guys that deserve a WILD CARD spot are: Gokhan Saki and Hesdy Gerges
West Europe GP
What ever happened to the West Europe Grand Prix? It seems like it never even existed.
Yeah it just kind of faded away. There was a poster with first round fights, details, super fights… but then, nothing. K-1 usually lets the local promoters handle a lot on these regional qualification shows, and it looks like this one just fell through for whatever reason. No huge loss as Stefan Leko was the only real notable name in the tournament, and he’s not really Final 16 material at this point sadly.

ooooooooohh !! i can’t wait for Final 16
Gerges , Aerts , Saki should be wild cards spot.
probably this dream is not going be true ‘K-1 USA GP’
i wish see Bonjasky’s flies this year too.
And in MAX i prefer Drago ( he is in better conditions than El hadj )
Holzken is best choice for #16 spot
VIVA K-1
by the way i think K-1 needs better broadcasting in Europe
events show live on Fuji TV in Japan and HDnet in USA and some other channels in australia and korea ….. but they has not a good coverage in Europe ( just eurosport player)
hope to see K-1 live in Big channels like eurosport 1 or 2 sky sports and……
Ignashov
Any idea what is Ignashov doing? Any fights planned?
I think he deserves wild Card spot

Is Hari still going to get in after all the stuff that has happened? The DQ against Gerges, the allegations of criminal connections and then there’s the 2008 final DQ against Bonjasky…
You don't like wrestling in MMA? Go watch K-1.

K-1 has made no comment about Hari, but in his last statement he indicated that he would take part in the GP still, and I would be shocked if K-1 pulled him. The only potential trouble would be his alleged involvement with that bouncer beating. Last I heard, he was wanted by police for that, but had left the country. Again, I wouldn’t envision K-1 pulling him because of that, but he could get into some legal trouble over it.
Still, I expect to see him at the GP.
