Edwards Sets New Record in GP Victory
We said the K-1 Oceania GP would have fireworks, and it did. The night featured an onslaught of fast KOs, especially from tournament champion Ben Edwards. While official times are not yet available, it looks like Ben Edwards has indeed set a new record for the fastest GP win in K-1 history.
Based on ringside video, Edwards's times look to be 1:30, 1:02, and 0:56 for a total of 3:28. The previous record for fastest GP win was 4:04, calimed by Jerome Le Banner in his 2001 victory in Osaka. The record set by Semmy Schilt at last year's GP Finals (5:52 total) stands intact as the fastest win in GP Finals history, but not in overall GP tournament action.
Congrats to Edwards on this historic performance.

wow,I would like to see these fights. To be honest,I dont know much about Edwards, what is his style like? Any similiar styles amongst elite fighters?

Edwards’ style I would call “Sloppy, heavy handed puncher.” Think of the early fights of Chris Leben in the UFC maybe? And check out the Daily Fight to see the finals with Slowinski.

We'll have to wait and see.
But the Final 16 will be tough for him, depending on the draw.
