The Legend of Mirko Cro Cop's High Kick; Ricky Nickolson, the First Victim
With Mirko Cro Cop's next UFC bout against Pat Barry upcoming, now is a good time to reflect on what could of been with his K-1 career. Cro Cop gained a huge following for his devastating high kicks in MMA, racking up a number of impressive finishes. 1999 was the year that Cro Cop began his legend, returning to K-1 after a 3-year layoff and he went on a tear, making the finals of the World Grand Prix before falling to Ernesto Hoost in the finals. The first qualifying tournament Cro Cop entered was Braves '99, where he failed to qualify, but in the opening round did begin the legend of the Cro Cop high kick against Ricky Nickolson.

There is a lot of what if with Cro Cop. I think if he stayed in K-1 he would of got a WGP title under his belt.

If you look at how his career went, I tend to agree.
Of course it is coulda-woulda-shoulda, but there is a very good chance he could’ve shaken the mix up a lot.
