Additional K-1 MAX July 5th Fights Announced
The K-1 MAX July 5th event continues to take shape as K-1 President Tanikawa did yet another press conference to announce a few more fights for the upcoming event. This will be the night that sees three bouts for the standard 70kgs division, with the final 10 fights in the Final 16 participating in a K-1 MAX event in Europe, on top of that, will see the -63kgs division through to the finals.
While the ever-entertaining and emotional Fire Harada was on hand, no bout was announced for him, sadly. I understand that many will bag on Harada for not being a top level kickboxer, but K-1 has never just been about talent vs. talent, and a fighter like Harada will make them money and attract tons of attention. Three reserve bouts were announced for the -63kgs tournament, which will, in an odd turn of events, involve Kazuhisa Watanabe. Once again, K-1 isn't always about winning and losing as much as it is television ratings and fan interest. Watanabe always puts on amazing fights that draw in fans, so expect K-1 to continue to give him shots at glory.
The reserve bouts are as follows;
Shohei Asahara vs Toshiki Taniyama
"Kyoken" Yuji Takeuchi vs Koya Urabe
Kazuhisa Watanabe vs Kazuyuki Miyata

you know me well..
But not THAT well. Id rather see Fire Harada get the piss beaten out of him and watch him get crazy emotional again.
Watanabe in a reserve fight right now is really illogical even by K1 standards.

Urabe was getting a lot of praise
