Remy Bonjasky Update: Might Only Have One Fight Left
Head Kick Legend has heard from a few reliable sources close to the situation that the rumors of Remy Bonjasky's retirement should be taken very seriously. On top of the news from a few days ago, a video interview surfaced of Bonjasky confirming his plans to retire after his eye surgery. This in and of itself is not news, as we've known for a while now that Bonjasky is considering retirement due to the nagging eye injuries.
The news is that apparently Bonjasky is considering having one final fight, a retirement fight after his surgery as long as he will not risk further injury. Much in the tradition of the fight industry, the multi-time K-1 World Grand Prix champion deserves a worthy send-off. Word is now that Bonjasky is in talks with multiple promotions as to who will host his final bout, with the top contenders being K-1 and It's Showtime, or if he wants to retire in Japan where he has won the World Grand Prix multiple times or in his home setting of Europe.
Chances are that it will be K-1, as there is talk of a recent contract renewal for the Flying Dutchman, and it would be a fitting end for one of K-1's greatest champions. Of course the big question is who his final opponent should be; should it be an old rival like Peter Aerts or Jerome Le Banner, a young fighter like Gokhan Saki or Ruslan Karaev or his most heated rival, Badr Hari. Many fans want to see the rubber match between Badr Hari and Remy Bonjasky, which Bonjasky has turned down multiple times due to fearing for his own life (apparently Badr has some crazy fans) or simply not wanting to fight the hot-headed 'Bad Boy' of K-1.

Gotta go with Badr on this one. Im sure he would be calm for the fight where the steaks are not high. I want to say Overeem too be i dont think a potiential Knee to the 3rd dimesion is a good send off.

How many times did Remy turn down a fight with Hari?
I remember only one time, the 29th May, and obviously he had a good reason since he is considering retirement.

it's the only good fight there is."
Well, the rest are rumors..
But apparently in the whole It’s Showtime/Strikeforce talks, SF asked for Remy vs. Badr, Remy obviously turned it down.

Iwould vote Hari, but we know that won't happen....
So, I chose Schilt b/c I’d like to see Remy take one more crack at him before he goes.

A perfect retirement fight is something like Masato vs Souwer. Between two old rivals, two legends of the sport, perfect stylistic matchup, but with no bad blood between them. A retirement fight is something celebral, something that doesnt start with trash talking, and doesnt end in disqualification.
Thats why I didnt vote on Hari. I think Bonjasky vs Aerts should be perfect, have a last fight against another legends, and they only fought 1 time, which is surprising for me,given how often elite fighters fight each other in K-1.

I'm with you.
Aerts/Remy would really, really be great.
