Alexey Ignashov's Last Chance and Other K-1 Yokohama Fallout
It isn't easy for the fallen to redeem themselves when being thrown right into the fire almost immediately, ask Alexey Ignashov about that as after years away from K-1 competition was tossed in against one of the best the world of kickboxing has to offer (HKL's #3 fighter), Badr Hari. He fought defensively and as Badr Hari stated in his post-fight interview (watch with subs to see how ridiculous and wrong they are), he believes that Ignashov went into the fight with a better gameplan and as soon as he got hit just went into survival mode.
When prompted on Ignashov, Tanikawa sounded a bit regretful; "I feel bad for Ignashov, he desperately needed to do more. If he does not win the Eastern European tournament I do not see there being any room for him in the new K-1." As we know by now, Alexey Ignashov will be competing in the K-1 World Grand Prix Bucharest tournament, with the winner moving on to the Final 16. Ignashov has not won a tournament since the 2003 World Grand Prix in Paris, so it has been 7 years now since he has won a K-1 tournament (or any tournament for that matter), so he'll really need to be on top of his game in May to continue to fight in K-1.
Tanikawa commented on some of the older fighters and used the word "stagnant" to explain them, he was also critical of Semmy Schilt for not "doing more" in his fight with Errol Zimmerman. He admits Schilt is one of the best, but wishes he was more exciting (at least he publicly says this now..), and praised Zimmerman's effort.
The projected rating for the World Grand Prix Yokohama is 10%, which while not bad is not exactly good, either.

True
He was thrown in with one of the best…I think he should be given a little more credit. The EE tournament is a good idea though. He needs warm up fights.
I’m glad Tanikawa spoke out against Schilt’s “style”. Sure, he wins fights, but he it’s just not pretty and a lot of time he’s getting by based on his size.
