Genki Sudo Hints at MMA Return; We Are All One Again

Very rarely does a rumor about Japanese MMA get me excited. It is just the bare bones facts that rumors are rumors, but this one is so insane, so incredible, so awesome that one loses any sort of sarcastic edge they might have. Any disbelief built up around Japanese rumors and how unture they usually are dissipates and just blindly the fan inside of you believes that MMA fans will get what they want. That is what this is.
Zeus, our buddy at MiddleEasy went and read Genki Sudo's recent blog and tells us, well, that Genki Sudo might be coming back to us.
Now it looks like Genki may come back to MMA after receiving his black belt. Since most of you guys can't understand Japanese, I'll translate all of this for you free of charge. It's my belated birthday gift to you. Earlier this month on his personal blog (or 'diary' as he likes to call it), Genki said that after three years of retirement, he finally received his Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt at the Triforce academy under Watanabe Yoshinao. Genki Sudo and his instructor noted that it's somewhat of a paradox to achieve the height of your profession when you've retired from it. Watanabe asked if this meant he would return to the sport of mixed martial arts and Genki Sudo said he's thought about it, but abruptly (and sarcastically) says it's a joke. He then ends his diary entry with 'winking' emoticon.
Let's all collectively cross our fingers. MMA needs Genki Sudo.
On a more serious note, Japanese MMA is in a dark place right now, and the return of Genki Sudo could only mean fantastic things for Japanese MMA. Have the stars finally aligned, are we all one?
