It's Showtime Milan Card Finalized
We're a little over a week away from the second It's Showtime card of 2010 and the first real blockbuster fight of the year. On March 13, It's Showtime comes from Milan with a strong card headlined by #1 fighter Giorgio Petrosyan v. Khem Sitsongpeenong. As we've said before, Khem provides a nice challenge for the unstoppable-looking Petrosyan, and this is a main event many are looking forward to.
In addition to this fight, It's Showtime has finalized the rest of the card, adding in a fight with K-1's Chahild Oulad El Hadj. Chahid will meet Thai fighter Sudsakorn sor Klinmee. For Chahid, this is a must win as his career has been on a massive slide in the past year. Once pegged as a potential breakout star of 2009, Chahid has gone 1-5 in his last 6, including a current 3 fight losing streak to Murat Direkci, Chris Ngimbi, and Hafid el Boustati. He desperately needs to turn it around and get back to winning here. His opponent, Sudsakorn, is a 23 year old traditional Thai fighter, whose biggest fight to date was a loss to Khem at Lumpinee Stadium last year. He'll bring a strong Muay Thai game to the table, and it will be interesting to see how he does in a featured bout.
The main card also includes Hesdy Gerges facing an opponent yet to be announced. Gerges comes in off his win over Ashwin Balrak last weekend and looks to continue building momentum before his May showdown with Badr Hari. Dmitry Shakuta defends his It's Showtime 77kg title against Cosmo Alexandre, who comes in off a pair of impressive tournament victories in 2009. Armen Petrosyan, brother to Giorgio, faces the man Giorgio defeated in his K-1 debut, Dzhabar Askerov. And Hicham Bettani faces Yavuz Kayabasi. The undercard includes an additional five fights featuring Wendell Roche and Orono vor Petchpoon among others.
Look for more from us next week in anticipation of this event.

I’ve been feasting on Petrosyan fight vids the past few weeks, really excited to see a new fight. Is Khem really gonna challenge him?
We're just a million little gods causin' rain storms, turning every good thing to rust.
Good question. The thought is that perhaps Petrosyan’s weaknesses could best be exploited by a strong Muay Thai stylist. His only loss and only 2 draws came against Muay Thai fighters, and Buakaw’s camp talked about their idea that they could beat him with leg kicks given the opportunity. In all honesty, I think he’s progressed past that point, and I don’t see Khem beating him by any means. But it will be a good test as Giorgio has not faced a Muay Thai fighter of Khem’s level in over a year. Perhaps will give us a good indication how well Sato will do in his crack at the champ later.

I was going to ask about that, Ring Rust
Isn’t Petrosyan coming off a hand injury? Will that play a role? Probably not a lot since he’s pretty young…
He's already fought this year
… and already destroyed, he looked great.

What about GHITA?
Daniel Ghita.Wasn’t he suposed to fight Attila Karacs at this event? I thought he was. Any news on his status with It’s Showtime?
YES HE WAS
but Gerges replaced him
his status with It’s Showtime???
4 fight left in the 100 000 Euros Contract
Hm...
Well, Gerges seems to be ghita’s nemesis :)
He was also suposed to fight Gerges in Amsterdam on the 29th of may, but then Hesdy moved up the ladder to Hari. Anyone knows anything about that show?Is Ghita still fighting in it?With who?
Oh, and THX for the info burim.
Ghita is still on for May 29, though his opponent remains TBA at this point now that Gerges moved up. As for this card, yes, it was to feature Ghita v. Karacs, and did not originally have Gerges scheduled. This was an unexpected and unexplained switch.
Pure unfounded speculation here, but Karacs is not scheduled for May 29 at the moment. Perhaps they pulled this fight from this Milan card in order to reschedule it for Amsterdam? It’s not that exciting of a marquee opponent for Ghita, but there’s plenty of other big fights to sell that card already.

Thank You
TY Fraser, as always, very good intel :) I like Karacs, perhaps he will force Ghita to start using his arms too, not just those trademark low-kicks of his. He need to do that, in order to be a complete fighter. And he’s not quite there yet.
Thanks – and I do indeed agree that Ghita would be well served to vary his strikes a bit. Excellent point. He does really have fantastic low kicks – probably the best in the game right now – so he shouldn’t abandon them by any means. But predictability is a tough hurdle to overcome when facing the absolute elite level, and right now, Ghita is a tiny bit predictable. I still think he’s top notch, but yeah, adding a few more dimensions could give him just what he needs to really be the best.
