Paul Slowinski vs. Konstantin Gluhov Added to K-1 GP Warsaw
The K-1 Grand Prix Warsaw 2010 is shaping up, as the March event has added Paul Slowinski vs. Konstantin Gluhov as a superfight to the show. Gluhov is a fighter whose career has yet to leave Europe and Russia for the big shows in Japan, while Slowinski has been to the big shows but had no such luck in returning in 2009. A win in this fight could do wonders for either fighter.
World Combat News has a rundown on both fighters, hyping up the fight.
Paul Slowinski was the 2009 International Kickboxer Super Heavyweight (+95kg) Champion and 2009 WMC Super Heavyweight World Champion. He also won the 2007 K-1 World GP in Amsterdam. He’s trained with the legendary K-1 fighter Ernesto Hoost. Last June in Jamaica, at the “Champions of Champions II” event he defeated Patrice Quarteron (33-5-3) for the WMC Super Heavyweight World Title (Quarteron would later go on to defeat Bob Sapp via KO at the A1 World Combat Cup in November). Slowinski is coming off back-to-back losses as he suffered defeats at the hands of Thor Hoopman (Nov.09) and most recently to Hesdy Gerges (30-7-2) (Jan.2010).
Konstantin Gluhov was the runner up in the 2009 WBKF World Tournament (+93 kg) and on November 22, 2008 Glukhov won the K-1 World Grand Prix 2008 in Riga tournament by three consecutive knockouts over Marco Della Ricca, Pacome Assi and Mindaugas Sakalauskas. He’s also an accomplish MMA praticioner with a 6-4-0 record, winning his last MMA fight against Daniel Omielanczuk at “KSW 12 – Najman vs. Pudzianowski” last December.
