Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem Making His Strikeforce Return?

Alistair Overeem

After discussing Alistair Overeem's future again with his management, the only comment was that the next announcement we will hear about Alistair Overeem will come from Strikeforce. While the date and opponent have not been officially unveiled yet, the rumors right now are that Overeem will compete at DREAM.13 as well as Strikeforce in May. As for his opponent? The only solid guess right now is Neil Grove, who recently said he was fighting at DREAM.13. All signs are pointing for Alistair Overeem to fight in the United States again and very, very soon.

This of course could mean that Overeem will not participate on the K-1 World Grand Prix in Yokohama show if he is fighting at the DREAM event just days before and Strikeforce the next month. That of course will have to be ironed out in the coming weeks, as more of the fights for K-1 Yokohama and DREAM.13 start to filter out. The kickboxing world might have to wait for Ray Sefo vs. Alistair Overeem, which is a shame.

EDIT: Although, K-1's Tanigawa does say on his twitter that Overeem will fight at 4/3 Yokohama and not DREAM.13. This has been a fun weekend for Alistair Overeem news. As always, grain of salt until there is a fight announced.

I dunno, man. Guess you didn’t read my comment on the other article.

Tanigawa just confirmed Overeem for K-1 in April.

End of story.

Source?

Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.

I saw it here..

http://twitter.com/K1_Tany/statuses/9769813881

Run it through google Translate or something, basically he is asked if Alistair fights at D13 or K-1 and Tanigawa says K-1.

The timeline could make more sense if he fights on 4/3 at K-1, end of the month in Bosnia and then the next month in Strikeforce.

Join up, man. It’s a great place.

You’ll see The Voice rocking a KTT shirt every once in a while. I think he did the K-1 WGP Finals pre-fight interviews with a KTT shirt on, and recently on Inside MMA.

I love Tany.. But..

Until they have a fight officially announced for him nothing is solid. I saw the post Tanigawa made about Overeem’s fight being a K-1 one, too.

I trust Boon when it comes to this stuff as he has always been very honest when it comes to his fighters, so the Strikeforce thing I am solid on.

I’m just sayin’ man…

Now you have that spazz Kid Nate telling the MMA blogosphere that Overeem is rumored against Niel Grove at DREAM.13. That’s just ridiculous.

“It seems quite likely that Overeem will fight for either DREAM (rumors have Neil Grove as his opponent) in March at DREAM.13…”

That’s ridiculous. People just make shit up, and it’s not right.

No, I understand..

.. and be nice, Nate is a great dude. Until anything is official rumors are still rumors.

I’m pretty sure there is a presser this week, which will hopefully shed some light. Then again, knowing Alistair, he could easily do every show under the sun.

Also I did add this..

Because Tanigawa did say it, regardless of me trusting him or not.

Right on. I’ve found Tanigawa to be much more honest with the Twitter community than with other forms of media.

Another thing to keep in mind is Overeem’s fight on the 24th of April at Glory 12. Not sure how that will fit in with everything, but it’s out there…

absolutely

That is his fight in Bosnia, which is just mind-boggling. I see Alistair burning himself out, to be honest. That fight is a gimme, but still involves travel, some sort of prep and so forth.

Tany is pretty honest with Twitter, and honestly things could be solidified over the weekend. I heard on Friday that there was nothing signed yet and today about Strikeforce, with nothing solid on DREAM or K-1.
