Jean-Claude Van Damme Update: Turns 50, Didn't Suffer Heart Attack, Will Fight in July
One of the persisting kickboxing stories in the past year or so has been the rumor -- perpetuated by Jean-Claude Van Damme and his camp -- that he'd fight Olympic Gold medal pugilist Somluck Kamsingin a kickboxing bout after filming of his current movie. Actual news on the fight has been slow-going, with possible deals in Vegas with Golden Boy promotions have yet to materialize. A few months back, I confirmed with Keith Kizer that they had not heard from anyone in regards to licensing JCVD for a fight, or renting an arena.
So, I was shocked this morning when I heard that JCVD celebrated his 50th birthday in the hospital after suffering a heart attack. Well, so was he, apparently.
"Hours ago, I read a rumor online about me suffering a heart attack.
"Please do not believe all what you read from rumours on any unofficial JVCD sites. Jean-Claude Van Damme is 100 percent healthy, training well for taking the fight and sending his fans and friends much love."
His official website went on to confirm this, as well as discuss his fight planned for July, which is seemingly the new projected date for his scrap with Kamsing.
JCVD is in better shape than ever and preparing for his fight in July.
"He did not suffer from a heart attack on the set of 'Weapon' as reported on some websites!"
As always, we'll keep you informed on updates on Jean-Claude Van Damme's upcoming fight whenever we can get some news. Believe it or not, JCVD news is rather slow at times.
