Sengoku Raiden Championships Severs Ties with Yoshida Dojo

The rumors have been kicked around the past few months that the relationship between Yoshida's Dojo and SRC/WVR had been strained, with a possible departure from all of those fighters. SRC held a press conference and confirmed that Hidehiko Yoshida and Michihiro Omigawa, the big stars of the dojo, would not be competing anymore, as would the rest of the members. Also, according to NOB, Ishii is set to return soon.

Also at today’s press conference, director Inemura basically said that all ties with Yoshida Dojo have been cut and as it stands right now, Takimoto, Nakamura, Omigawa, etc. will not enter the SRC ring. They don’t have any intentions of pursuing them with any offers either. About SENGOKU training player Shigeki Osawa (who was sent to Yoshida Dojo when he became a training player) Inemura said that he has changed gyms and will participate in SRC.

As for Ishii’s return, according to Inemura, Ishii’s side want him to fight again soon. Nothing is set yet but a big fight is planned to take place in July or November. It seems like Ishii will travel abroad to continue training soon as well.

Also noted is Hirota's surgery was a success and he is recovering well and wants a rematch, citing an apparent illness as a reason for his poor performance. You'd also think the loss of Omigawa, a fighter they have pushed as their underdog face of SRC would be a tough loss, but who knows?

WOW ….They kind of shoot themself in the foot by cutting Omigawa after giving him all those lame MUST decisions!

Seriously i would like Zuffa to pick him up for WEC 145 or 135(i think SRC FW div is 139 lbs)… With the impressiv Takaya win Omigawa stock will never be better!

Yeah really

Omigawa was given so many gifts by Sengoku and they made a legitimate star out of him. I guess they figure they could take any down-on-their luck fighter and give them another chance, but Omigawa I feel is special. He has great charisma and knows how to appeal to the fans. He has this great never say die attitude and never gives up, and after being gifted was always crazy down on himself, with the whole “I AM SHIT!” speech.

Losing Yoshida and Omigawa is kind of lame. While Yoshida probably had about another fight left in him, he could’ve still served as a figurehead for the company like he did during the DREAM vs. SRC angle.

I’d rather see OMigawa spice up DREAM’s roster.

Thats if he can make 138 though.

I hope Yoshida Dojo all goto DREAM

If so, Omigawa deserves first shot at Bibiano after blitzing Takaya.
