Gegard Mousasi Sets Sights on K-1 Dynamite! -- Dan Henderson Can Wait

With Dan Henderson signing to Strikeforce, a lot of the hype has led fans to believe that Dan Henderson's first fight would be against Gegard Mousasi, but Mousasi spoke with MMA Fanhouse and quickly shot down those rumors, and actually dropped some interesting facts. Mousasi's next target: Back to K-1.

Mousasi informed FanHouse that his next fight will be contested under K-1 rules at the Dynamite!! show on New Year's Eve in Japan, although his opponent has yet to be made official. The former DREAM middleweight champion is 1-0 in his kickboxing career, defeating Musashi via first-round TKO at last year's Dynamite!! show.

When asked when he expects to fight in MMA again, Mousasi noted that his contract states he can only compete on the same Strikeforce shows that feature his fellow M-1 Global fighter, Fedor Emelianenko.

"So when he fights, I will fight too. But sooner would be also be fine by me," he wrote.

Also note that his contract states he can only fight when Fedor fights. I'm not sure how most people feel about M-1 Global, but I feel like Gegard might've got the short end of the stick on the Strikeforce front. One would think that Mousasi's return to K-1 could yield some interesting fights, as last year he beat Musashi up so badly that Musashi sat out the better part of a year and fought his retirement bout right after.

There are a lot of interesting K-1 match ups to be made for Mousasi. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if they give him Yong Soo Park.

According to someone on mixfight.nl, it’s Manhoef. Really didn’t see this coming, but I suppose whatever result could be played out in Strikeforce in the future even.

K-1 needs to bring in newer, younger talent. Good to see this going down. I would like to see Manhoef, Karaev and even Bonjasky fight gegard.

He'd probably destroy Spong

Spong has technique but his power just isn’t there.
