Why Fans Should Be Disappointed in Karo Parisyan

Will Karo enter a UFC cage again? Dana White says no.

Will Karo enter a UFC cage again? Dana White says no.

Karo Parisyan is always an odd one to decipher, and he is no different now. News broke via Dana White's twitter of all places that Karo was off this weekend's show and out of the UFC altogether.

@danawhite Karo Parisyan has fucked over the UFC, the fans and his opponent again!!! He will not be fighting Saturday or ever again in the UFC

If you follow MMA, you know that Karo can sometimes be a heartbreaking case.  Karo always gets a full head of steam and then suffers a painful loss. Most recently there has been talk about him getting crippling panic attacks that have prevented him from fighting in the past as well as his back injury which led to him getting suspended for his painkiller usage. The story now is that Karo pulled out of his fight claiming he owed the NSAC $32,000 and couldn't afford it, so he can't fight anymore. Keith Kizer told MMA Fanhouse a bit of a different story.

"He said, Is there any way you guys can structure that any differently? I said, Let me talk to the chairman, who at the time was Bill Brady. I said, Chairman is there any way to structure this? How about a 16/16 deal? In other words, [take out] money $16,000 from the show and $16,000 from the win money, so that way he at least walks away with $24,000 instead of $8,000. He said, That's fine; that's good. I feel bad for this guy -- I know he's had some financial difficulties and he's been out since January. So we showed some empathy and sympathy for him," Kizer said.

"So I told that back to Karo. He was very pleased with that and he thanked me for that. I said, At the very minimum you would be walking out with 24,000, and if you win, you will get 48,000 and you will be free and clear from any debts to us. If not, if you lost or it was a draw, the UFC would take that 16,000 out of his show money. We would get our money.

"So it wasn't an issue at all, he seemed happy with that. So I was surprised as anyone today when I walked here and a bunch of reporters told me that he pulled out of the fight. I wish they could find a replacement for Dustin, but unfortunately, it looks like they can't."

What it comes down to is that Karo most likely got stressed out about the fine and making his return after the embarrassment of being caught with banned substances, or something like that. We can only speculate as to what is going on with Karo. Karo Parisyan was one of the fist high level judokas in MMA to adapt Judo into the sport and have a great deal of success. We can only hope we see Karo fighting again soon someday.

well,I feel neutral and indifferent about Karo...

…but I wanted to see the UFCs most creative BJJ artist in action goddammit! Of course Im talking about Dustin Hazelett, that guy is amazing! I live in central/eastern europe,K-1 is huge here, but MMA is virtually unknown. And if I want to show someone a good ground fight,I usually choose one of Dustins fight.

I hope he gets a new matchup very soon.

This. Hazelett is a great up and comer and I really look forward to his fights, the omoplata to straight armbar vs McCrory was a thing of beauty not to mention the armbar over Burkman.
