Celebrity Fight News: DMX OUT, Coolio IN

While we here at Head Kick Legend like to focus on the professional side of kickboxing, sometimes there are weird stories from around the fight world that are just too good to pass up.  This is one of those stories.

Rapper DMX has been advertised as taking part in the MMA event "Alabma Pride" on December 12 since late this summer.  DMX was slated to face Eric Martinez, a member of his crew, under boxing rules.  Now, sadly, DMX has dropped out of that fight, but this is where things get interesting.

As various sites are reporting, DMX's management appears to have sent a letter to the event promoters demanding the fight be fixed to allow the rapper to win.  When the management refused, DMX dropped out.  Left without a semi-main event (but still going strong with a main event of Tank Abbott v. Butterbean!), promoters are turning to other rappers to take DMX's spot.  Currently leading the pack of potential replacements?  Coolio.

Folks, sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy the bizarre world of combat sports.

UPDATE: The celebrity gossip hounds at TMZ have confirmed with event promoter Thunder Promotions that Coolio will indeed be DMX's replacement.

Wait.

Coolio is still alive? Awesome.

I wonder if he’ll come out to Gangster’s Paradise or if it’ll be Fantastic Voyage.

Tank v. Butterbean was scrapped a couple weeks ago.

The current main event is is Jeff Monson against midwestern regional hero Travis Fulton (191-45).

I’ll probably be at the event, but there’s no way this will be more fun than being cageside at Sylvia-Mercer.

50% more Ultimate than the leading competitor.
