Countdown to the World Grand Prix: Badr Hari vs. Ruslan Karaev
Badr Hari is the baddest man on the planet, we all should know that by now. His cocky attitude, the dynamite in his fists, the pinpoint precision of his knockouts and his hot temper have led him to be one of K-1's biggest stars. If you haven't caught the HDNet Badr Hari special, you should. That being said, Badr is not invincible, as we've seen in the past. In the World Grand Prix this year Badr Hari's first match is one that fans have been dying to see; a rubber match with Ruslan Karaev.
The first bout ended in controversy, with Badr being aggressive with his kicks, but getting backed into a corner. He was caught by a few solid shots and crumpled to the a crouching position, which the ref did not rule as being down yet, where he was kicked in the head by Ruslan Karaev. Badr was in shock and simply did not want to get up, thinking a foul would be called. The foul was never called and the fight was ruled in Karaev's favor.
When they met again it was an all-out war. Badr Hari does not like to lose, so if anything was going to inspire him to go all-out, a loss to a man he considers a lesser fighter would be just that. Karaev proved that he was a formidable opponent, scoring some knockdowns on the Golden Boy, but like a scene out of a movie he knocks Badr down in the second round with a looping left, Badr simply stands up, ducks another, and like a sniper lands a perfect straight right, knocking Karaev clean out.
This rematch will be the first fight of the night for one of these fighters, there is a chance the winner will go into the next fight pretty banged up, and a chance that we'll get another awesome war.

The second fight was awesome. Reminiscent of the see-saw battle between Aerts and LeBanner. I thought the first fight ended prematurely.
I think Hari stayed down because of the foul and wanted time to recover. When he saw he wasn’t getting it he got up, but the ref chose to count him out without even bothering to check his condition.
Besides Hari is a lot bigger than he was during their first fight, so I see this going Hari all the way.
Bob Arum thinks I'm a white Nazi skinhead even though I'm a brown grad student (with hair)
Hari has really bulked up
He has also worked hard to improve, while I’m not sure that Karaev has.

Should be great while it lasts.
I think Karaev will be more defensive though, like his fight against Kyotaro.
It will be a great fight for sure,Im looking forward to it.
Hari improved more since their fights, but never count Karaev out,not the easiest matchup for Badr.
I'm not sure if anybody really got an easy fight
Maybe Overeem did with Teixeira? If Teixeira looks like he did in his last fight, well, you know.

Teixeira an easy fight?
No way. The stink of the Jaideep fight is strong, but the truth is, Teixeira is a very methodical, technical fighter who we’ve really never seen get rattled. Overeem relies on bullying guys around, and while he’ll be able to do that with Ewerton to some degree, I don’t think it will rattle Teixiera so much. The guys Overeem will handle easier are guys who will engage in his style of brawling. But Teixeira will force Overeem into a kickboxing fight. He’s good enough defensively to avoid the quick KO, and sharp/skilled enough to chip away on the outside.
Will he win? Nah. But stylistically he’s a far tougher fight for Overeem than someone like Karaev would have been.

Hari should just follow in Hesdy Gerges’ footsteps and bombard Karaev with lowkicks, Ruslan has never been able to deal with hard and swift lowkicks considering his background. Hari wouldn’t even need to get into a pointless slugfest.
Hari has too much of an ego, I think
Do you really think he’ll put that aside to have a smart fight?

Why not? He’s shown he can do it (second Graham fight, second fight against Leko, Viney, Samedov), if anything he knows what to be wary about and in the examples I listed he clearly learned from his mistakes. To be honest, even if they throw down Karaev’s chin and most importantly his recovery is still worse than Hari so he’s got that going for him as well.
you are right, nobody has an easy fight in the final 8. Teixeira is the weakest link in the chain probably, but still a tough test for anyone.
But if you think about possible matchups, except Overeem and Remy,Karaev might be the worst for Badr.
Badr is great against fighters who like to keep a confortable rhytm(Schilt,Feitosa,HMC,even Samedov),Hari used to destroy them with his insane offensive game, but if somebody rushes in and starts to change shots with him like Overeem or Karaev did, they might catch him. I know that Karaev changed a little bit,but I think for this fight,he needs to return to his old self, throwing gazillions of various strikes and combinations, and dictate the tempo.
