Overeem: "I want Fedor in April"

Interesting news from everyone's favorite fighter to discuss.  At the Dream.12 post-fight interviews, Alistair Overeem publicly stated that he wants a fight with Fedor in April 2010, either in Strikeforce or in Dream (although he said he would prefer Dream, which no doubt will enrage the "he's not a good champion" crowd).  When asked why April, Ovewreem said he has the K-1 Finals coming up, will be fighting at Dynamite, and wants Fedor to be his next fight after some time off.

I don't love the chances of seeing this in Dream, but if Fedor defeats Rogers, this is an obvious fight for Strikeforce, and one I would expect them to put together.  Let's wait until the Rogers fight is over, but for fans hoping to see this fight, things are looking good.

Watch Overeem's comments for yourself here (he begins discussing Fedor at roughly 3:00):

I think it’s gonna ramp up the steroid allegations more than that.

I’d say those two crowds tend to go pretty hand-in-hand, but you are definitely right.

He wants Fedor, when all he has been fighting is chumps. You gotta be kidding me.

Well

There is no better test for him, at least.

He brutalized Cro Cop until the low blow and outside of the few Heavyweights Strikeforce has there isn’t much in the world for him to do.

He’s been fighting top of the foodchain kickboxers while Fedor’s been fighting UFC washouts. Overeem is obviously the superior striker and not far behind in his grappling.
